Vontae Davis says writing a book about his childhood brought back difficult emotions, but he's glad he went through the process.

"It also motivated me to tell my story," says Davis, who was twice a Pro Bowl cornerback during his 10 seasons in the NFL.

Part of that story is the grim family situation that led to his grandmother saving Davis and his siblings from being sent to various foster homes by adopting all of them.

The details are in "The Middle School Rules of Vontae Davis." It is the latest in the "Middle School Rules" series of children's books from author Sean Jensen. Previous collaborations were with Brian Urlacher, Charles Tillman, Skylar Diggins-Smith and Jamaal Charles.
